Lilac and Bee Flora Scarf
It came from a dream, a memory, and the people I have loved and lost.
The home where I grew up was surrounded by flowers, but my favorite was always the lilac bush.
During a recent visit with my mother, who now lives in memory care, I asked her about the flowers from our old house. To my surprise, she immediately remembered the lilacs. They had also been my father's favorite. He passed away when I was a child, and hearing her recall them so clearly felt like a small gift.
Bees have become a recurring motif throughout my work. When I was little, my father designed a collection for his company called Lori Bee, dotting the "i" in my name with a tiny bumblebee. Ever since, whenever I see a bee, I think of him.
The woman at the center of this scarf has red hair, a feature I share with my mother. She holds a sprig of lilac while a bee gently circles nearby, bringing together these memories of family, love, and the enduring beauty of the people who continue to inspire me.
